Nenne van Dijk FRPS  DPAGB

1937 - 2026

We are saddened to announce that Nenne died in January.

Nenne was co-founder of our Group with Susan Hill FRPS in 2010 and has been our guiding light ever since.  At all our exhibitions her creativity has amazed us with her unique approach to image making.  In more recent years we have regularly discussed images on Zoom where her honest and thoughtful comments have always been welcomed.

Specialising in still life and abstracts, Nenne also enjoyed recording details of landscapes, flowers and insects.  She became a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) in 1999 and also held a Distinction of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (DPAGB)

Nenne was born and educated in the Netherlands then lived in the UK for over 60 years.  Trained in Fine Art, she specialised in sculpture, exhibiting and selling her work nationally and internationally as an Associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (ARBS) and a Fellow of Free Painters and Sculptors (FFPS).

After her professional career as a sculptor, Nenne concentrated on her interests in photography, initially working in film and then embracing digital capture and processing.  Even late in life, her ability to manipulate Photoshop for her own ends was legendary!  The image shown here and in her Portfolio (link below) celebrate her photographic work.

Nenne was a member of Beckenham Photographic Society for over 30 years, always taking part in club competitions and exhibitions and often successfully representing BPS in external events.  She served as the Society's President in the early 2000s.

In the summer of 2025, when she was already seriously ill, one of Nenne's pictures (below) was amongst those selected by St Christopher's Hospice in a competition for photos from the local area to be displayed in the charity's facilities.

She will be greatly missed by us all.
